Seven months to build.A lifetime to dial in.
A 1974 BMW 2002 that's been in my family since the '80s. In 2021 I started building it into a BSL-spec, street-legal race car, and had it track-ready in seven months flat.
Everything since has been about dialing it in to my own style, chasing the details, corner by corner. Built to be driven hard, and street-legal enough to get there under its own power.
We built the car for VARA's B-Sedan Lite, the vintage class for early-'70s Trans-Am sedans, wheel to wheel with the Datsun 510s and Alfa GTVs. The rulebook keeps everyone close, so it comes down to the driver, not the budget. Period-correct, evenly matched, and a real handful to race.
How it got here.
My uncle buys the 2002.
I'm five years old, and I see it for the first time in New York.
My uncle passes. The car stays in the family. I learn to drive a manual in it, and start taking things apart to see how they work.
It becomes my daily driver.
It sits in a garage in the Midwest. Rust gets cut out, it gets a tune-up here and there, but mostly it just sits.
I stop letting it sit. Seven months later it's on track.

Come use the shop
